Currently, the Shantounan-Shanwei section of the Shantou-Shanwei High Speed Railway in Guangdong Province has entered the stage of trial operation, marking the countdown to the opening of this route. On the morning of the 14th, reporters boarded the G8428 trial operation train from Shanwei Railway Station to Shantounan Railway Station, completing the entire journey in just 40 minutes.

The trial operation covers the section from Shantounan Railway Station to Shanwei Railway Station, with a length of 143 kilometers. The remaining Shantou-Shantounan section includes the Shantou Bay submarine tunnel and is under construction in an orderly manner. It is reported that once the Shantou-Shanwei High Speed Railway is completed and opened, it will be connected to the previously opened Guangzhou-Shanwei High Speed Railway in September this year, reducing the travel time from Guangzhou to Shantou to about 1.5 hours.

Simultaneously, after the Shantou-Shanwei High Speed Railway is put into operation, it will join the Guangzhou-Shanwei High Speed Railway, Zhangzhou-Shantou High Speed Railway, Fuzhou-Xiamen-Zhangzhou High Speed Railway, Wenzhou-Fuzhou High Speed Railway, and Ningbo-Taizhou-Wenzhou Railway. Together, they will form the Ningbo-Guangzhou High Speed Railway, a crucial link in the national southeast coastal high speed railway corridor. This corridor passes through 15 cities in Guangdong, Fujian, and Zhejiang provinces, serving as a vital connection between the Pearl River Delta urban agglomeration and the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration.
