CR announced that the Jinan-Puyang section of the Jinan-Zhengzhou High Speed Railway will be completed and operated on December 8. This marks the operation of the entire Jinan-Zhengzhou High Speed Railway, with a travel time as short as 1 hour and 43 minutes from Jinanxi Railway Station to Zhengzhoudong Railway Station, further reducing the spatial distance between the Shandong Peninsula City Cluster and the Central Plains City Cluster.

Jinan-Zhengzhou High Speed Railway, originating from Jinanxi Railway Station, passing through Jinan City and Liaocheng City in Shandong Province, Puyang City, Anyang City, Xinxiang City, Zhengzhou City in Henan Province, and connecting to Zhengzhoudong Railway Station. The total length of the railway is 407 kilometers, designed for a maximum speed of 350 kilometers per hour. The Puyang-Zhengzhou section had already commenced operations in June 2022. The newly opened Jinan-Puyang section spans 208 kilometers, featuring seven stations: Jinanxi Railway Station, Changqing Railway Station, Chipingnan Railway Station, Liaochengxi Railway Station, Shenxian Railway Station, Nanle Railway Station, and Puyangdong Railway Station. Of these, Jinanxi Railway Station and Puyangdong Railway Station are existing stations, while the rest are newly constructed. Simultaneously, a connecting line has been put into operation between Jinan-Zhengzhou High Speed Railway and the Jinan Railway Station, linking the Qingdao-Jinan High Speed Railway and the Qingdao-Jinan Railway.

The Jinan-Puyang Section of the Jinan-Zhengzhou High Speed Railway crosses multiple rivers, including the Yellow River and the Grand Canal, and traverses several existing major rail lines, such as the Beijing-Shanghai High Speed Railway, Beijing-Shanghai Railway, and Beijing-Kowloon Railway, posing significant construction challenges. Since the commencement of construction in June 2020, CR has meticulously organized participating units and construction teams, scientifically and orderly advancing the project. Notably, key bridges such as the Changqing Grand Bridge over the Yellow River have been completed, ensuring the project’s timely opening.

Before the official opening, CR systematically organized relevant units, conducted integrated testing and commissioning, acceptance, and performed safety assessments on various professional equipment for the section, including comprehensive optimizations for rail conditions, catenary performance, train control, and communication signal systems. Presently, the railway meets the safety and stable operation requirements of high speed rail, possessing the necessary conditions for operation.

Upon full operation of the Jinan-Zhengzhou High Speed Railway, trains will operate at a maximum speed of 350 kilometers per hour. Initially, the railway department will arrange passenger trains according to daily, weekend, and peak schedules, with up to 61 trains operated daily. Notably, the travel time from Jinanxi Railway Station to Zhengzhoudong Railway Station will be reduced to as little as 1 hour and 43 minutes, shortening the travel time by 1 hour and 29 minutes compared to previous schedules. Additionally, 46 sets of cross-line trains will be operated, reducing the fastest travel time between Zhengzhoudong Railway Station and Qingdao Railway Station to 3 hours and 52 minutes, with a shortened running time of 1 hour and 45 minutes compared to before. Furthermore, leveraging the Jinan-Zhengzhou High Speed Railway, trains heading to Beijing will be operated for the first time starting from the Liaochengxi Railway Station and the Puyangdong Railway Station, with travel times between the two stations and Beijingnan Railway Station reduced to 2 hours and 27 minutes, and 3 hours and 9 minutes, respectively.

To enhance the quality of operation and meet diverse passenger travel needs, the railway authority has implemented a flexible discount and differentiated market-oriented fare mechanism for stations on the section, offering more choices for passengers. During the initial operation of the Jinan-Zhengzhou High Speed Railway, the fares on the Jinan-Puyang section will be a maximum of the publicly announced fare, with a minimum fare of 55% of the publicly announced fare. Publicly announced fares can be checked through the railway’s 12306 platform.

Connecting with the Beijing-Shanghai High Speed Railway to the east and the Beijing-Guangzhou High Speed Railway to the west, the Jinan-Zhengzhou High Speed Railway intersects with the under-construction Beijing-Xiong’an-Shangqiu High Speed Railway at Liaochengxi Railway Station, serving as a vital link in the national “Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal” high speed rail network. After the full operation of the Jinan-Zhengzhou High Speed Railway, the regional road network structure will be further improved, facilitating travel for people along the route, and achieving seamless connectivity between the Shandong Peninsula City Cluster and the Central Plains City Cluster. This development holds significant importance for promoting ecological protection in the Yellow River Basin, advancing the high-quality development of the regional economy and society.
